Assumption School's Relay Recess Surpasses Goal Before Event Begins

The goal was to raise $4,000. The school has raised $13,000. The event begins at noon.

 

Assumption Regional Catholic School's Relay Recess has already surpassed excpectations, and the event isn't scheduled to begin for another couple of hours.

As of 6:44 a.m. Friday morning, April 20, the school has raised $13,000, it announced. Not knowing what type of participation the event would receive, the goal had been set at $4,000, according to the school.

Relay Recess will help support programs and services provided through the American Cancer Society, according to the school.

Relay Recess is open to the community and provides cancer prevention and education information while raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

It is scheduled to run from noon-8 p.m., and the schedule is as follows:

Live remote from noon-2 p.m. by local radio station (Lite Rock 96.9)

Local DJ from 2 p.m.-5 p.m.

Local Miss Atlantic County (opening ceremonies noon)

There will also be local food vendors, free children's games and activities and family fun.

Opening and closing ceremonies including special recognition of loved ones who are battling, survivors or have lost the battle to Cancer, a representative of the school said.

Yogo Factory of Galloway will be hosting a wrap up after party, the school said.  According to Assumption, throughout the day if anyone purchases product at the store and mentions Assumption Relay, Yogo will donate a percentage of the purchase in support of the event.
