The team portion of the New Jersey high school wrestling season is over, and the time for individual glory is upon us. Absegami High School wrestling coach Shawn Scannell has emphasized this part of the season since the start of the year.

The individual state tournament begins this weekend, in each of New Jersey's 32 wrestling districts. The District 32 tournament takes place Friday, Feb. 22, and Saturday, Feb. 23, at Absegami.

The regional tournament takes place next weekend, followed by the State Wrestling Championships the second weekend in March. Champions will be crowned in each of the sport's 14 weight classes in Atlantic City.

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, Scannell spoke to Galloway Patch about the tournament. In the featured video, he speaks about the tough road some of his wrestlers will face, beginning this weekend.
