Financial Planning Certificate in Less Than a Year Possible for Stockton Students
Program courses begin in November.
Beginning this November, students attending the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey now have the opportunity to earn a Certified Financial Planner Certificate (CFP) in less than a year, the college announced on Thursday, Aug. 2.
The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards recently approved a program that will be offered through the College’s School of Graduate and Continuing Studies, according to the college. The Internet-job hunting website CareerCast.com has identified financial planning as the fifth best career in its ranking of 200 jobs, Stockton College officials said.
“The Stockton program is distinctive because it incorporates both classroom based and online instruction,” Assistant Professor of Business Charles Weeks Jr. said. “This program is the first step in the certification process.”
“This is an excellent opportunity for both current financial planners and other college graduates seeking to enter this lucrative field, to obtain the CFP designation,” CFP Program Director Dr. Michael Busler said. “Most of the course work is completed online with a total of 12 Saturday sessions held here on campus. We designed the program to be thorough while recognizing the needs of working adults. With the demographics indicating financial planning is a rapidly growing profession, the CFP certification should prove to be very valuable in the future.”
Upon completion of the 10-month program, students will have satisfied the education requirement for the CFP Certification Examination, according to the college. Courses are set to begin Nov. 12.
