Five Things Happening This Week
Sports, religious gatherings, and meetings this week.
This week begins with a Turnpike Authority public meeting that was rescheduled from its original date last Wednesday and with a Galloway Township Board of Education meeting.
Here are five things happening this week:
1. Turnpike Authority Public Meeting
When/where: From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27 in the Trustees Room of the Campus Center at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
Why go? To learn more about proposed changes that could affect access to a rest stop in Galloway. The meeting was originally scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 22, but the date change was announced last Monday, to the surprise of some local officials.
When/where: Starting at 7 p.m. at the Galloway Township Middle School on Monday, Aug. 27.
Why go? To keep abreast of things going on in the school district, or to speak your mind about a topic.
3. Midweek Brief Spoken Worship
When/where: 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 328 E. Great Creek Road. This week's worship was canceled, but another will take place on Sept. 5.
Why go? If you want to participate in a midweek worship, the service will include readings, meditation and communion.
4. Absegami High School Varsity Football Scrimmage
When/where: 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Absegami High School.
Why go? Because you can't wait for the football season to begin and you want a preview of Absegami's football team before they start in the newly-created Group V division.
5. Absegami High School Boys Varsity Soccer Scrimmage
When/where: 4 p.m. at Central Regional High School, 509 Forest Hills Parkway, Bayville, NJ, on Thursday, Aug. 30.
Why go? Because you're a soccer fan, or because your related to or friends with someone on the team, or because you want to support local sports teams.
