On a Groundhog Day when Punxsutawney Phil failed to see his shadow and thus predicted an early spring, the National Weather Service hazardous weather outlook is calling for snow.
Snow is likely to fall between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. in Atlantic County, but accumulations are expected to be only about an inch, according to the forecast. The outlook for central and northern New Jersey calls for as much as four inches of snow.
Saturday night's low will be around 24 degrees, and Sunday's high is expected to be 38 degrees with a chance additional snow expected to accumulate at less than an inch.
The National Weather Service outlook says there is some chance of more accumulating snow on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Untreated roads and sidewalks could become slow as a result of the snow which could make for hazardous driving conditions according to the advisory.
With offshore winds in the forecast, the winter storm will not bring any surf. The waves on Sunday are expected to be near flat. The ocean water temperature Saturday at Steel Pier in Atlantic City was 38.1 degrees.
