President Obama to Visit Atlantic City Wednesday Afternoon

President Barack Obama will tour Atlantic City this afternoon with Gov. Chris Christie to view the damage caused by Sandy, which hit the city as a tropical storm Monday night at 8 p.m., the White House announced.
Obama will arrive at Atlantic City International Airport around 1 p.m., and his arrival is closed to the public, according to the White House.
Obama will meet with citizens who are recovering from the storm, and with first responders who put their lives at risk to save members of the community who remained at home during the storm, according to a release issued by the White House.
Atlantic City and the other four barrier islands, including Brigantine, Ventnor, Margate and Longport remain closed until further notice due to extensive damage caused by the storm. Much of the northern portions of the Atlantic City Boardwalk were destroyed by the storm.
On Tuesday afternoon, county officials said much of the city remains under water, and the water is unsafe for those in the city to drink due to contamination. It only impacts Atlantic City, which uses ACMUA water.
The county has had 14,000 gallons of water shipped to the city, according to county officials.

Obama is doing a great job. It's nice to see the President take some time off his campaign to visit New Jersey. CNN is showing Romney in Florida rallying voters as if the disaster never occurred. Obama will get my vote again.

It's his JOB to be there. Romney stated before he spoke about the deveistation in NJ and other states. What is he supposed to do ? Romney took some time away from campaign also. Wake up DUDE!!!!!!

Hey Pollyana: It's the President's job to visit disaster sights and try to restore hope. And at election time- it's certainly in his best interest. Can you imagine the negative reaction if he DIDN'T visit NJ?

Respectfully, the President's visit did nothing to "help.". It simply cost money - wonder how much? - and physical resources. Why not use the transport wasted on his visit to deliver supplies, and the funds toward reconstruction. Wish I had the gas his entourage expended on this junket.

Peter, I can guarantee you, in the shoes of someone whose house now sits under the atlantic, a visit from the President is welcome. Christie even said so. His visit did help. It showed that the United States government will assist.

@Robert, this FEMA is not the BUSH Fema. Mr Romney believes wholeheartedly that the states should help themselves and that some of this should fall to private sector. Do you think "The Donald" will be contributing one dime to the restoration of AC. Of course not, he'd sooner file bankruptcy and restructure the debt and hide his money,
Some things are best done by Fed Gov. and this is one of them. Chris Christie will be changing his position on this, the Pres. is saving his butt.
