Robbers Fake Injury, Take Jewelry From 65-Year-Old Woman at Knifepoint

She was returning to her home on Old Port Republic Road from Atlantic City over the weekend

Two people robbed a 65-year-old woman at knifepoint when she stopped to help one of them, who appeared to be injured, on Old Port Republic Road late Saturday night, Galloway Police said Monday morning.

The woman was reportedly coming home from an Atlantic City casino at 9:45 Saturday night, and said she was being followed by two cars. At one point, one of the cars passed her and raced up the road out of her line of vision on Old Port Republic Road.

Shortly thereafter, she saw the same vehicle turned sideways across the road, forcing her to come to a stop, police said. She said the person in the car was "slumped over the wheel," and she approached the vehicle to see if they needed help.

At that point, the person in the car still behind her came up from behind with a knife. With a stocking covering his face, he demanded the woman give him her money and jewelry. She received injuries to her arm as a result of the incident, and had her earrings ripped out of her ear.

Both vehicles then fled down Old Port Republic Road toward Route 9. No further description for either robbers or car could be provided, police said. The incident is under investigation, police said.

Unfortunately, the judicial system is in such a state, even if these people are caught, they will quickly be back out on the streets staging even more sophisticated scams and assaults. They will have an opportunity to hone their skills while incarcerated. We need more "hangin' judges" in our courts.
