UPDATED: Three Taken to Hospital After Car Bursts Into Flames
None of the three sustained life threatening injuries following the two-car accident and blaze.
Three people were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus Thursday night, Jan. 12, after a two-car accident resulted in one of the cars being consumed by flames, Galloway Police said.
According to police, Dominique Almeyda, 18, of Galloway, was driving a 2001 Mercury Sable north on New York Road (Rt. 9). When she attempted to make a left onto Moss Mill Road, she was hit by a 2007 Ford Mustang being driven by a 17-year-old female from Port Republic. Almeyda's vehicle burst into flames.
Galloway Police and Oceanville Fire departments responded to the scene. Galloway Ambulance transported both drivers and a passenger in the 17-year-old's vehicle to the hospital, all with non-life threatening injuries.
Almeyda was discharged from the hospital on Friday, AtlantiCare officials said.
Once the vehicle fire was extinguished, both cars were towed from the scene after sustaining major damage. Class II Officer Przemyslaw Ryba and Officer Dan Weigle charged Almeyda with careless driving.
