A Galloway Township woman and her four-year-old child were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus after her car sideswiped a guardrail, broke a utility pole and landed in a small stream, partially submerged on Thursday morning, Jan. 17, police said.
Katie Seaver was taken to the hospital with head and facial injuries, according to police. The child was in a restraint in the backseat and was uninjured, according to police. She was treated and discharged.
Seaver was traveling north on Moss Mill Road in her 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo at 9:12 a.m. when she side-swiped a guardrail on the southbound side of the road, police said. The car struck and broke a utility pole, struck an embankment and landed in the stream, police said.
The road was closed for about five hours while the pole was being repaired and the car was being removed from the stream, police said. Seaver was issued a summons for careless driving, police said.
The road was wet and the sky was cloudy at the time of the accident, police said. Patrolman Justin Butler is investigating the accident.
