NJ Transit Identifies Woman Hit and Killed By Train Saturday Night Near Genoa Avenue

Tara Everett, 51, of Tuckerton, was hit just south of Genoa Avenue.

New Jersey Transit has identified the woman who was struck and killed by a Philadelphia-bound train out of Atlantic City Saturday night, March 23.

Tara Everett, 51, of Tuckerton was hit by the train Saturday night at 10:10 just south of the Genoa Avenue crossing, New Jersey Transit Spokesperson Nancy Snyder said.

None of the 70 customers and crew on board were injured, and the rail line was temporarily suspended while New Jersey Transit Police were on the scene.

It was unclear how Everett ended up on the tracks, Snyder said. She added the engineer sounded the horn and put on the emergency brakes once Everett was spotted.

The investigation conducted by New Jersey Transit Police is ongoing.
