Beware. While more people have moved from V zones to A zones than the other way around, FEMA does…Read More view moving the A/V zone line as a one-way street.
There is also a huge variation in how towns see their coming final sit down with FEMA for map review. Some look at it as a chance to advocate for individuals. Others say "you're on your own."

Last time I went to an event ran by these old crusty dinosaurs the head of this Nazi party chewed up…Read More a teenager for stating her opinion. The child ran out of the room crying. That was the day these old crusty women and her organization lost all credability with me (and many others).

This is a complex problem Dave. You're right, some things are rebuilt, but what kind of experience…Read More will consumers find when they get there? The first place to start is to be honest that the damage sustained in our towns takes time to rebuild and elicit continued help from the public. Each community could define their assets and promote those, rather than a blanket "open for business". Instead of consumers of the Jersey shore, we should see ourselves as citizens helping each other to slowly improve and recover. I believe that would be more honest and hopeful.

Judy- you stated there was a first attack. Is there forensic evidence other than testimony explained…Read More by Medical Examiner, Police, Experts, Martinez or Nurmi that there was a first attack precipitating the stabbings, throat cutting and shooting. Or are you basing the first attack on Arias's testimony by the bathroom shower, when she was taking pictures and claimed to have dropped the camera when he grabbed and then body slammed her?
I don't think we will ever know the truth about what set her off. On the other hand, addressing your other comments: the premeditation evidence severely mitigated her insanity defense. And even though expert witnesses explained her behavior using academic etymology, in my opinion this insulted the jury's intelligence, evinced by their questions.

I think it is easy for people to get "stuck" in the numbers because they believe it gives…Read More them some sort of marker for the progression of their overall well-being. Unfortunately they are not trained to understand that individual numbers are not as meaningful as the overall assessment of many things by their doctor. It's a slippery slope and can lead to depression and rob them of precious moments they
could be experiencing. It must be difficult for you to get them to live every moment to the fullest, to follow your advice and just enjoy living (even with all the tough treatments and the feeling of hopelessness). I hope Allan will come to the realization that he may have a terrible disease, but he is still here on this earth and should do what he can to at least try to have some happy moments while he is still able.

Rich, Tammy: Did any expert-level medical person ever state that they thought the fight and the…Read More seizures were connected? Second question: when does people's perception of events become "true?"-When they write it on paper? When they write it on social media? When they speak it in an interview? When it's spoken among friends? When it's written in a journal? When does something become "true?" If multiple people are writing/saying the same thing, and their perception of that thing shaped events, then it is noteworthy to reveal what they said. Everyone has their own perceptions of every event; it's when perceptions are shared among many that they are noteworthy to report. That is what has been done here. You're not mad at the article, you're mad at perceptions that differ from your own.

Rich, Firstly I am sorry for your loss. As stated in the article, it was the medical examiner who…Read More said that there were no broken bones and no trauma found that could connect the schoolyard fight to Bailey's death. If that is, as you claim "totally inaccurate," that is something you ought to take up with the medical examiner and the sources who are speaking to the press, because that is what was stated at a press conference on May 13th. As reported by the Delaware County Times, "Sources indicated the autopsy on Bailey O'Neill did not indicate any evidence of trauma related to the fight..." Secondly, the article does not say that anyone in the family has participated in any of the racial comments. Nothing I found out during my investigation indicates that either. I did not write the article hoping to imply that anyone in the family had been participating in the racist comments. Those comments have come from the community and were pulled and quoted exactly as they appear under news stories online. If people interpret that the family is/was participating in racial comments then those people are not comprehending the story correctly. With regard to "lumping the family together," the article details the comments and behavior from two distinct Facebook pages and does not mention anyone by name specifically. It is up to the reader to do their own research and come to their own conclusions after the facts are presented. I'm sure your clarification will assist them in doing so.

For those of you who find it so easy to judge, condemn, mock and demonize Angelina Jolie, here's an…Read More excerpt from an Eva Moon article on the subject at huffingtonpost.com: "So, let me ask you: How many times will you do this, knowing they'll find something every time? Maybe you've got decent insurance now, but what happens when you retire? When you change or lose your job? Who pays for all those MRIs at $1,000+ a pop? If you have a mastectomy now, it's done and paid for. If you have a mastectomy now, it's just a mastectomy. If you wait, it's a mastectomy, chemo, radiation and possibly death. The future is a vast unknown with a giant C on it." Please read the whole article to understand why some women have no choice but to take the course that Jolie chose:

@Pundit,I think I can clear something up for you. The quotation you cite about "the lonely…Read More people" is the chorus from the song "Elenor Rigby", released by the Beatles on the "Revolver"LP in the mid sixties. The writing credits are attributed to John Lennon and Paul MacCartney, though the composition is primarily a workpiece of Sir Paul. When originally composing the song, the names Daisy Hawkins and Father MacCartney occured to MacCartney while writing the lyrics, though we're later changed. Sir Paul changed the name of the priest to Father MacKenzie, as he did not want to give the impression that the character was,in fact, his own father, who was a jolly ol! Chap, and not a lonely person. The name "MacKenzie ", he picked from the phone book. The name "Elenor" was originated from actress ElanorBron, who starred with the Beatles in the movie "Help!". "Rigby" was chosen from a sign on a wine and spirits store MacCartney noticed when visiting visiting Bristol. He simply thought the combined names worked for the piece. Thus, both individuals are fictitious characters and not based on real life persons. There is an ironic twist, however. In the cemetery of St. Peter's Church in Liverpool, where Lennon and Mac Cartney first met in 1957, there is a gravestone of an individual named "Elenor Rigby", whom in fact lived a similar and lonely life as the person in the song. There is no apparent connection to anyone named Robert or any Iranian, Persian or other middle easterner.

Doctor, you rock! Your columns have been spot-on each time. I think that one of the hazards of…Read More patients not being clear on what the doctor actually meant is that they often will run to the internet to look up what they they think they heard. This can be based on a couple of words or phrases that captured their attention at the doctor's office and they scramble for more information. This can be misleading and dangerous.
Thank you for yet another great column!
