Artist Talk with Julia Levitina and Katherine Stanek
Talk starts at 6:30 pm
The sculptural works of Katherine Stanek and Julia Levitina are on view in the exhibition Katherine Stanek and Julia Levitina: Of Myths, Metal and Mortar. Years ago, Katherine Stanek was inspired by a decaying Grecian statue. Working largely in concrete, she plays with the idea of destruction in art. Julia Levitina works in water- or oil based clay, then casts and patinates her work. “Insight is a moment of illuminated thinking in which beauty present in ordinary existence is revealed to the imagination. That beauty, created by our bodies and beings, is what I hope to convey through my sculptures.” states Levitina.
