What Would You Improve in Galloway Township in 2013?

If you could make a New Year's resolution for Galloway Township, what would it be?

More than 45 percent of Americans make a resolution every year, according to statisticbrain.com. Some people vow to live a healthier lifestyle, others promise to spend more time with family, and many say they will try to save money.

As millions of Americans make resolutions to improve their lives, what could we do right here in Galloway Township to make it an even better place to live?

Do you hope for a bigger police force? No layoffs for township employees? Moving forward with the Garden State Parkway interchanges? Better money saving practices from the township? Ways to make traffic safer?

What is on your Galloway Township wish list? What is one thing you would improve in 2013?

Tell us in the comment section below or blog about why you love living here!

Henri Galazkiewicz December 29, 2012 at 05:14 AM

Most Lawsuits were caused by BONANNI's poor management Skills and Poor choices He promoted to Management. He promoted his Bonanni Ites from the Beacon Church whom were too young and had NO Experience. Others were Ex Drunken Friends and Wie Baterers and Some with 0 Management Skills and Extreme Tempers. But he excelled in Time Management with Prostitutes. And you can't fix anything if you Let Go, transfer and demote those employees who fix things .Also this week 6 more of the Road Division Left Galloway with Promise to get Unemployment unchallenged. Who will Pick up the Leaves and Branches from the JUNE Storm? And how about the VO-TECH KIDS who will be Manning the Galloway Vehicle Repair Shop when they get out of School After 11:30 in the Morning. Good luck getting anything Done or Fixed in Galloway!!!!!

10 years ago you had more employees and got a lot more done for your Tax Dollars. We needed some Streamlining of the Useless Management , Relatives, Friends and Overloaded management who made too much$$$.
58yearGresident December 29, 2012 at 06:07 AM
How about a Movie Theater or something Simple like Selling the Mass leaf mulch to the many local landscaping companies instead of giving it to the company who is charging us $10,000. a week to assist with picking up the Branches our many lost and Leaving Galloway Employees used to pick up for a Measly $24,000. average Salary per year for Leaves to Snow Plowing to Bulk Pick up, ETC.

More busniess so i can stop going to Mays landing. More police officers. I also agree with rich price a more welcoming town, Christmas decorations, banners downtown etc.....
Bill Pollock December 29, 2012 at 02:21 PM
How about bus shelters for Jim Leeds and Pitney? Then people wouldn't need to sit on overturned shopping carts.
Keep Galloway Green December 29, 2012 at 05:46 PM
Henri...Plenty of empty buildings/houses in Galloway. Makes no sense to build new buildings when existing ones will work. What about Dixon's new commercial buildings on Jim Leeds. They are brand new....and still empty...after years! Do you ever count the number of sheriff sales in the Press every Monday. Empty houses that Galloway is not getting current taxes on...that's why Galloway is in such a financial mess. Why build new stuff when there is plenty of available properties to buy/rent. Cutting down 100 year old trees is not going to solve Galloways problems. Galloway needs to fill up empty buildings & houses if they want to collect their beloved taxes. Think of it as supply & demand...if the supply is high...why create more supply?....Your plan doesn't make sense.
Henri Galazkiewicz December 29, 2012 at 06:54 PM
My plan does make sense. Those buildings you speak of... Can they hold a McDonald's.... Theatre.... Markets.... Stores... Chain stores....????? You people and your trees. Hahahahahahahaha.
Stan Walker December 29, 2012 at 07:47 PM
I'd like to see IKEA, Steinmart, Trader Joe's, BonTon, ALDI, Pappadeaux Restaurant, plus any other store that is already not in EHT. We could have had Bass Pro Shops - but we lost that one to The Walk in AC. Maybe Cabelas would be a possibility. We need businesses that would be unique to the surrounding area, ones that aren't already near the Hamilton or Shore Malls, businesses that would attract shoppers from EHT, the shore points and beyond.
betsy December 29, 2012 at 08:33 PM
There must be somewhere in Galloway for drive-through restaurants. Why continually give our money to Absecon and EHT??? That's a convenience parents and grandparents carting around babies and kids would welcome.
Keep Galloway Green December 30, 2012 at 12:46 AM
Who needs all those stores?....With all those stores comes more traffic. All that development won't lower your taxes 1 penny. The more taxes Galloway gets...the more they spend. Anyone who thinks new development will lower taxes is dreaming. Taxes were lower 10 years ago....and there were more trees. Taxes were even lower 20 years ago & there were more trees. So building more seems to raise taxes. Property values were much lower 20 years ago....taxes were lower also....and Galloway survived. If you want to live in the midst of shopping malls...go move to Hamilton Township....where they have 5 lanes of traffic....lol
smithvillian December 30, 2012 at 02:49 AM
Betsy, I'm a parent and have NO interest in driving through a crappy grease trap with my kids. In fact, it's something we don't do in other towns either. When I think of development I don't feel fast food restaurants offer anything to the community. We can do without them. What we need is something unique to draw visitors from the all areas of Atlantic County & beyond. Galloway needs to roll out a red carpet for key retailers. An IKEA at the Lennox site would be an incredible asset and draw for the entire region. Stores like Trader Joe's, etc can find a sustainable existence here in Galloway Twp. I know many people who make a monthly pilgrimage to the site out in the Marlton area. The answer is not more lousy cookie cutter office space or poorly planned/ridiculous looking strip malls like Risley Square. These are the final product of back door greased palm deals of "friends" and the lack of creativity and responsible development sense falls on the shoulders of those who green lighted that junk that we are stuck with forever. Also, as I drive around the Township it's looking pretty lousy the last few years. The "open space" areas are just completely littered with trash, fallen trees and twisted vines everywhere. Quite frankly, it's a pretty disheveled looking town really....the landscape of the immediate "downtown" area is blah and the main arteries being JL Rd., Pitney, etc are just lousy looking from a curb appeal perspective....sorry to say but it is the truth.
Shea December 30, 2012 at 03:00 AM
Betsy, I have 3 kids and I'm with you on the drive-through restaurants. With activities, jobs, busy lives I'd like to have the option of a fast food restaurant. I'd love an Ikea too, but it's not going to help me in my day to day life.
Stan Walker December 30, 2012 at 11:14 AM
smithvillian, I don't think traffic flow at the Lenox site could support an IKEA. What is needed is a full GSP interchange at WHP with a retail complex modeled after Stafford Square in Manahawkin.
tirepatch December 30, 2012 at 02:49 PM
we need the speed limit lowered and some crosswalks put in in between 6th ave, and pitney rd. before anyone else gets gets killed or injured there. also so many different driveways there, some thing should be done now,too many cars making left turns to get into the drive ways. mabey some better planing in the future
Stan Walker December 30, 2012 at 06:10 PM
Why not start with enforcing the existing speed limits?
Carol December 31, 2012 at 02:21 AM
Improve the safety of Galloway by the Police letting the public more aware of the crime, break-ins ,robberies ,thiefs, etc. which seens to be getting at of hand. The only way we know about theses things are from the Patch which is very good , but not everyone has access to the Patch. More should be in the Press or the Current.
Carol December 31, 2012 at 02:34 AM
You can thank the people from 4 Seasons for not having a McDonald's , they made sure that did not get approved a few years back.
Carol December 31, 2012 at 02:40 AM
They did not mind a bar going in the spot that was suppose to be McDonald's but is now just a vacant grow-up lot with weeds right next to Smithville CVS.
Stan Walker December 31, 2012 at 10:49 AM
You can thank the people from 4 Seasons for their annual $7 million contribution in property taxes while not placing any burden on the school system. Where would the budget be without that $7 million?
Stan Walker December 31, 2012 at 10:53 AM
If a McDonald's had been built in that location people would be complaining that it wasn't located closer to Pitney and Jimmie Leeds.
Henri Galazkiewicz December 31, 2012 at 03:49 PM
Lets not forget how petty the citizens of this town are either. They want better lifestyle and to pay less yet they complain about EVERYTHING!!! They love their trees. They don't want to build commercial chain businesses. Galloway diner wanted to open up a strip club. That wasn't a good thing either since he was making an honest buck. And if you live on the pike near a commercial property, don't complain when something opens up that you don't like. You can't live in a Forrest in this decade an expect cheap taxes, plenty of cops, and pay close to nothing. Stop complaining and let Galloway grow!!! I can't tell you how ignorant it sounds to hear people complaining and defending trees like their your relatives. Grow up. Things change. This isn't 1918 or 1980. Things change. Things get more expensive. Like living costs. This town is so behind. I hope you read this on your smart phones while shopping in the town next door. Because we all know you're not shopping here. We don't have much to offer.
Henri Galazkiewicz December 31, 2012 at 03:51 PM
Someone please drive by Kennedy's and go up to Christina's. Look at the properties and their conditions. Some of us live like animals. Clean up your properties! We look like a run down town
Keep Galloway Green December 31, 2012 at 04:38 PM
I'm wondering why you are so in favor of building. Is it so the people that run Galloway will have more $$$ to waste every year. Galloway is getting new development & they still can't keep a little tiny Post Office. Is Hamilton Township so ahead with constant traffic jams & 5 lane traffic?...Who needs that?....More development doesn't mean your taxes will drop 1 penny....havn't you figured that out yet? Did you read all the sheriff's sales in today's Press?....That's why Galloway is in a mess. Building more = more noise pollution...light pollution...more people...more traffic....and it doesn't lower taxes 1 bit...get it?
Work hard and fix things December 31, 2012 at 07:18 PM
We should work at having some pride in our community. It seems like most people blame and complain constantly and do little to actually help. We can Keep our properties clean without the help of public works (although code enforcement measures are sometimes needed). Why does the White Horse Pike look like such a mess?! Who want's to do business in a community of filth? I wouild also like to see people take resposibility for themselves. Why is it the government's job to do everything? Don't demand more and ask to pay less. Galloway employees ALL need to look at themselves first and ask how they can help. It's not enough to go along with the "I am doing what I was asked" mentality. Why aren't we all doing the best we can and look for selfimprovement? NO MORE JOB ENTITLEMENTS!! IF YOU CAN'T OR DON'T PERFORM A JOB -GO WORK SOMEWHERE ELSE OR BE FIRED.
Stan Walker December 31, 2012 at 07:37 PM
Amen!
Henri Galazkiewicz December 31, 2012 at 07:58 PM
It's not about lowering taxes. It's about not raising them so high... So fast. If we as a community spend money within our community... Life here would be a bit more sweet do you think? Recycle money within. Everyone needs to leave town to buy anything. Seems all you want mr green.... Is to fire everyone and put you in as mayor. Maybe we would vote for you if you didn't hide your name. Maybe.
Stan Walker December 31, 2012 at 08:17 PM
KGG, Remember how someone claimed his administration "saved" jobs? Well, maybe we can claim that more development may not have lowered taxes, but saved us from having to raise taxes. Just kidding!
