Egg Harbor City Girl Wins Miss New Jersey Pageant

Lindsey Petrosh was crowned on Saturday night.

After three days of Miss New Jersey events in Ocean City, Lindsey Petrosh of Egg Harbor City was crowned Miss New Jersey on Saturday night at the Music Pier in Ocean City.

By winning, Petrosh not only will have the chance to compete at the Miss America Pageant, but also secured a $10,000 scholarship, among many other awards.

Petrosh is a graduate of Rowan University. During the interview portion of the pageant, she had the chance to show a bit of her personality when she was asked whether it is better to be liked or respected.

"I believe that if you're a good person and a kind person, and you live by the golden rule...to treat others the way you want to be treated, you will be liked and respected," she answered.

Petrosh's platform is volunteerism.

The first runner-up was Kaitlyn Schoeffel of Egg Harbor Township, who won a $4,000 scholarship.  Second runner-up went to Courtney Charatsaris of Totowa, who took home a $3,000 scholarship.

The Miss New Jersey Pageant was a three day affair, with a , to narrow the field and Saturday night's final contest at the Music Pier.

Going into the final night of the Miss New Jersey contest at the Ocean City Music Pier, the contestants knew one thing: Before anyone could compete in the talent show or lifestyle and swimsuit competition, 15 of the women on the stage were to be eliminated, leaving only 10 to compete for the Miss New Jersey crown.

The 10 who had the chance to compete on Saturday came from all around the state: Besides Schoeffel, Charatsaris and Petrosh, there was Vanessa Baez of Bloomfield, Ellen Chu of Park Ridge, Angelica Nardi of Milville, Cierra Kaler-Jones of Galloway, Anna Negron of Vineland, Krysten Moore of Mahwan and Lindsey Giannini of Hammonton.

"Our girls have worked so hard this week, and I think that shows on the stage," said Dena Blizzard, the host for the night and a former Miss New Jersey.

The winner's work does not end when she is crowned, though, as she will make more than 100 appearances around the state during the year after becoming Miss New Jersey.
