Lili Mendoza To Be Stockton's First International Writer-in-Residence

Mendoza will read at events in Galloway Township on Nov. 18, Nov. 20 and Dec. 4.

The School of Arts and Humanities at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will be hosting a series of events in its Visiting Writers Series featuring the first International Writer-in-Residence, Lili Mendoza, a fiction writer, poet and translator from Panama.

Mendoza is the author of the short story collection, “Corazón de charol a-go-gó” (2009). Her stories and poetry have been anthologized in Panama, Costa Rica, Spain, Peru and the U.S., and showcased at literary events in Europe. She is a winner of the 2009 Yolanda Oreamuno Central American Fiction award. An active member of the Theater Guild of Ancon, Mendoza also collaborates in musical and dance performances.

The college is hosting a public reading by Mendoza on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at 8 p.m. in room F-111 located on the main campus here.

Mendoza will be a guest reader at the World Above Reading Series, a monthly gathering of the South Jersey Poets Collective, held Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Stockton’s Dante Hall Theater, located at 14 North Mississippi Ave, Atlantic City.

Finally, a literary salon will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Noyes Museum of Art of Stockton College, located at 733 Lily Lake Road in Galloway’s Oceanville section.

The public is invited to bring brief pieces of fiction or poetry to share with the group and Mendoza, who will also share her own work. Hot beverages and dessert will be served.
