Stockton's 'The Messiah' Rescheduled for Jan. 26

The public is invited to be part of the concert. Rehearsals in Galloway Township start Jan. 6.

Even if you’ve never sung in public before, you’re invited to be part of a rescheduled performance of “The Messiah” after the holidays at the Xanadu Theater at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City.

“Holiday cheer doesn’t have to stop in December,” said Beverly Vaughn, professor of Music at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and director of the Stockton Chorale & Oratorio Society. “Help us carry it into the new year by being part of a huge choir – or enjoying the performance as part of the audience.”

Vaughn announced that “The Messiah” will be performed by the Stockton choir and singers and musicians from communities all over the region on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. The performance replaces a Dec. 8 concert that was canceled due to snow.

Vaughn urged anyone who’s interested in being part of the concert – even if they hadn’t been part of the previously scheduled show – to come to open rehearsals after the holidays.

“Help us make this dream come true, bringing together Stockton and the community for the pure job of performing Handel’s masterpiece and benefiting scholarship students, too,” she said.
