What's New in Galloway Township Schools?

The first day of classes in the district is Monday, Sept. 9.

Grade-school students in the Galloway Township District have their first day of school today (Monday, Sept. 9), a few days later than students in most other districts in the region.

"Our Board and Administration realize that the 9th is later than we usually start and an earlier date is preferred," Superintendent Annette C. Giaquinto writes in a letter to parents and guardians posted on the district website. "This year, however, we needed to take into consideration factors such as training teachers in critical topics as well as making sure facilities projects had time to be completed."

Giaquinto said facilities projects included the replacement of the Arthur Rann Elementary School roof and storm water drainage system, and technological work for phone system replacement and network upgrades.

The summer also included curriculum initiatives and professional development for hundreds of teachers, Giaquinto said.
