Eagle Eye Enterprises Wins Advertising Simulation Award

The contest for Absegami High School media students saw different groups create ads for "Pocket Full of Posies."

It was a big day for many media students at Absegami High School on Thursday as finalists participating in the 11th annual Advertising Simulation presented their work before a panel of five judges and an audience of their peers.

Under the tutelage of media instructor Michael Piotrowski, students participating in the competition are called upon each year to use their skills in media production to create an ad campaign for a local business, which can be in the form of a radio, print or TV commercial.

This year, Pocket Full of Posies, a florist shop in Smithville was the desired client. Earlier in the semester, media students were broken up into small groups, forming their own faux ad agencies to vie for the shop’s business.

Only four campaigns made it to the final round.

After the scores were tallied, it was an agency by the name of Eagle Eye Enterprises with their appealing campaign “Putting Happiness in Your Hands,” that came out on top.

Coming in a close second, an agency by the name of D’NA presented a campaign that focused on the universal language of flowers.

While there may have been only one first-place winner, judges said it was a tough call.

“I think they were all well-made, well-presented,” said Bryan Perone, the owner of Pocket Full of Posies. “I think they really took their time and came up with good campaigns.”

Perone added he might consider using some of the student’s footage to advertise for his shop.

“It was very hard to choose,” said Lois Garrison of the Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District.

But the winners did a good job of targeting a “variety of audiences.”

Piotrowski said he was very proud by his student’s accomplishments and hopes it can inspire other students to get in to media.

“It’s really hard this time of the year to get this many students together and get them motivated,” he said.  “But when they get in here, they see something that comes to fruition.”
