What's going on this weekend in and around Galloway?

Maybe it's been a busy week and you haven't had a single moment to think about what you're doing this weekend. Maybe you were planning on sitting around your house and not leaving anyway (don't let us stop you).

But, if you do decide to find something to do this weekend, here's a list of some events going on in and around Galloway:

When/Where: Sunday, Aug 19 at 1 p.m. in Historic Smithville and the Village Greene, 615 East Moss Mill Road.

Why go? Well, if you enjoy music and shopping, why not do both at the same time? Plus, according to Weather.gov, it's supposed to be partly sunny with a high near 80 on Sunday.

When/Where: There are two chances to catch this show this weekend: Friday night and Saturday night at 8 p.m. on the campus of Barnegat High School, 180 Bengal Boulevard.

Why go? If you love musical theatre, here's a chance to catch a local professional theatre company's performance of "Gypsy."

Price: $35 for adults, $20 for children 12 or younger. Tickets are available by calling the box office at 609-312-8306 or by going to the Ocean Theatre Company website.

When/Where: At the Noyes Museum of Art Stockton College, 733 East Lilly Lake Road, all day

Why go? This New Jersey based artist has taken plastic bottles to create art, with the goal of raising the question, "Is the bottled water pure?" According to a Noyes Museum newsletter, "Dodd addresses the environmental damage from the associated energy, water use and plastic waste."

4. Enduring Brilliance: The Pastel Society of America at 40

When/Where: At the , 733 East Lilly Lake Road, all day

Why go? If you've been meaning to check out this exhibit, or if you simply love pastels, the exhibit, which has been on display since May 4, will end its run on Sept. 2. This will be one of the last weekends it will be available to the public.

When/Where: Chickie's and Pete's at 6055 Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township, starting at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18

Why go? Do you know someone who plays for Shore Points Roller Derby? If so, you probably know they are undefeated this season (and you probably know they need to raise some money). This Saturday at Chickie's and Pete's they will have carnival games, prizes and, perhaps most importantly, drink specials and free crab fries.
