GTBA, Go Green Galloway to Host Symposium for Business Owners

The symposium will deal with ecological issues in business.

and the are teaming up.

The two organizations will host the Business Sustainability Symposium on Wednesday, July 20 at the from 8 to 11 a.m.

Randall Solomon will be the keynote speaker for the symposium, which welcomes business owners and professionals interested in the ecologic and economic benefits of running a "green" business.

Solomon is a co-founder of the Sustainable Jersey Program and a Senior Advisor at the Municipal Land Use Center at The College of New Jersey. He helped develop and manages the Sustainable Jersey Certification Program.

Panel and audience peer-to-peer discussions and interactive surveys implementing audience response clicker technology, as well as presentations by local businesses, including and the host Ram's Head, will be part of the presentation.

Presentations will also be given by  professor Dr. Patrick Hosay, who will discuss how to perform a simple energy audit of a business or office and reduce business energy usage and costs; Go Green Galloway Co-Chair Barbara Fiedler, who will discuss conserving water and creating a sustainable landscape; and Atlantic County Utility Authorities President Rick Dovey, who will discuss how to create a fine-tuned waste reduction and recycling program.

“The presenting partners and sponsors are hoping to take the lead and provide a forum open to all regional businesses in South Jersey which showcases sustainability best practices from the very simplest of steps to the more extensive and comprehensive and everything in between,” GTBA President and Go Green Galloway co-Chairman Steve Moliver said.

“Sustainability practices for businesses and professional offices can have both environmental as well as economic benefits and we hope this symposium will showcase that fact and motivate business to go green and save green.”

The symposium is open to all businesses throughout the South Jersey region. Admission is free for GTBA members, and $10 for non-members.

Locally grown and sustainable items will constitute part of a continental breakfast that will be offered with admission.
