Readers' Choice Winner: Absecon Academy of the Performing Arts

Nearly 1,000 votes were registered in this week's poll, but multiple factors played into this week's decision.

Voting in Galloway Patch’s second Readers' Choice poll was much greater than voting in last week’s Italian Restaurants poll, and for the first time in the process, factors outside readers’ votes play into deciding the winner.

While amassed an amazing 717 votes for 71 percent of the vote, the received more comments in its review in Patch Places. It also raked in the second highest vote total, at 222 for 22 percent of the vote.

However, as it states in the initial announcements for our Readers' Choice polls: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by Patch Local Editor Anthony Bellano, based on poll results and reviews in Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

“My family has danced on Broadway stages and around the world,” Jennifer Graham wrote in the comments section of the Readers' Choice post. “I am a 4th generation dancer in this family-run studio. We have been around 25 years in this location and longer around the area. We have had daughters of former students at this point. There are sisters, brothers, Moms, cousins and friends of students that take classes with us. All of our business has mostly been through word of mouth, passed from family to family. We are proud of that and hope the Absecon Academy of Performing Arts can be a part of this community for another 25 years.”

Comments in the Absecon Academy of the Arts’ listing in Galloway Patch’s Directory include the following:

Shawn Graham: “The teachers at this dance school not only have the depth of experience but the ability to impart that experience on the children attending in a way that is both fun and exciting. My children have attended for several years and continue to be very excited about the opportunity to go to dance. I would HIGHLY suggest that if anyone were to consider taking their children to dance class this is the school they should attend.”

Jill LaBoy: “Great family friendly school. My daughter has been dancing there since 2007 when she was 5. Treats alls students with dignity.”

Jill Fass: “5 stars!”

It is also listed as the second most popular listing in Galloway Patch’s top five most popular listings.

Meanwhile, Veronica Orecchia lobbied for Kinetic Poetic in the comments section of the Readers' Choice post.

“Kinetic Poetic Dance is the most welcoming place I have ever been to,” she wrote. “When I first started class there, I was welcomed so nicely. The classes are excellent and they have programs for just about any age group! I have never met nicer people and I have learned so much as well. I am so proud to be part of the Kinetic Poetic community!”

However, Absecon Academy of the Performing Arts had more comments in its directory listing, and Kinetic Poetic is not listed in the top five most popular listings for Galloway Patch.

Still, the two establishments finished as the clear top two in voting,

Glazed Over, which was added to the poll on Monday, acquired 24 votes for third place, followed by Imagination Station with nine votes and the with eight votes.

Check out the full results in the poll below, and make sure to come back Monday morning at 5 a.m. when voting begins in our Readers' Choice: Places to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day poll.
