Showboat Atlantic City to Close Aug. 31

The Showboat made nearly $2 million in gambling profits as of March 31, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

The Showboat Atlantic City Hotel and Casino, which generated nearly $2 million in gambling gross operating profit as of March 31, is closing at the end of the summer, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

The Showboat closes on Aug. 31 in what a local union president calls a "criminal act upon the citizens of Atlantic County," according to the report.

The closing follows the Revel's announcement last week that it would close Sept. 1 if it couldn't find a buyer, and the January closing of the Atlantic Club Casino Hotel.
