Tilton Fitness to Hold Open Houses During Get Active, America! Week

The open houses include discounts for becoming members this week.

It’s Get Active, America! Week, and is celebrating with Open Houses at all its locations. Get Active, America! is an initiative by the health and fitness club industry designed to help fight obesity, and is May 7-13.

The open houses allow anyone to take exercise classes and use the gym’s facilities free of charge, Tilton Fitness said. Free blood pressure screenings and body fat analysis will also be available. Guests will have the chance to speak with personal trainers, participate in various workout classes, use Tilton Fitness equipment and tour the facility for free.

Should anyone decide to join the gym during the open houses, their enrollment fee will be waived, they will save $200 and they will receive their first month’s membership for only $99, the gym said.  Tilton Fitness will also make a donation to the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation for every new membership, the gym said.

In addition to Galloway, Tilton Fitness’s other locations include Northfield, Mays Landing and Stafford Township.

“Our aim is to show people the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, and that health clubs are not just for the young and fit,” Tilton Fitness President Sam Young said. “We need to educate people that through exercise and a healthy diet, they can maintain good physical health, lower stress levels, enhance quality of life and prevent costly medical problems that are commonly associated with obesity, such as diabetes and heart disease.”

International Health Racquet and Sports Club Association Executive Director John McCarthy added that 30 percent of American adults and 15 percent of American children are “seriously overweight,” according to recent studies.

“As many as 300,000 adult deaths in the U. S. are attributable to unhealthy dietary habits and physical inactivity,” McCarthy said.
