24-Hour Detour in Effect on Jimmie Leeds for About Three Weeks

Detour begins on Oct. 31.

A 24-hour detour will be in effect on Jimmie Leeds Road between Rt. 30 and South Genoa Avenue for approximately three weeks, beginning Monday, Oct. 31, Atlantic County announced on Friday, Oct. 28.

The detour will be in effect seven days a week, and will be in place due to work by GPI/Greenman-Pederson Inc. in cooperation with the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The goal of the project is to create a traffic light with a left turn signal on Jimmie Leeds Road eastbound at the point where the CVS Pharmacy is to be opened on Rt. 30, according to GPI/Greenman-Pederson Inc. Resident Engineer Debra Pinto.

The fork that connects Rt. 30 to Jimmie Leeds Road will be modified so that traffic can still enter Rt. 30 from Jimmie Leeds Road, but traffic along Rt. 30 will make the turn at the light to access Jimmie Leeds at the conclusion of the project.

While the detour is in effect, anyone wishing to access Jimmie Leeds from Rt. 30 will be directed to the intersection of Rt. 30 and Pomona Road.

Local residents, businesses and emergency responders will still have access to this area.

The county is advising motorists to follow the posted detour and plan accordingly, as delays are expected.
