A.C. Airport Providing Economic Boon to the Region

An Atlantic Cape survey shows 850 jobs and $22.4 million in tax revenues have been provided by the airport in the last three years.

The airport has supplied the region with 850 jobs and $22.4 million in tax revenue over the last three years, an Associated Press story on NJ.com reported on Monday.

That’s when Atlantic Cape Community College released a survey stating the airport increased by 37 percent its overall economic impact on the region.

According to the NJ.com story, more than 11,000 jobs have been created by aviation-related activities on the airport property. These include positions in the Federal Aviation Administration Tech Center, the New Jersey Air National Guard’s 177th Fighter Wing, the U.S. Coast Guard’s Air Station Atlantic City, and the Transportation Security Agency’s Federal Air Marshal National Training Center.

Last week, in the wake of the death of Osama bin Laden and the possibility of an elevated threat level for terrorist attacks, the airport stated when it comes to national security and protecting the airport and its travelers.
