AC Electric To Hold Meeting Regarding Moss Mill Road Substation

Meeting is scheduled for residents of Four Seasons.

A meeting regarding a proposed Atlantic City Electric substation in Port Republic on the border of Galloway will be held at the Four Seasons in Manchester Village at 1 p.m. on Sept. 12, for Four Seasons residents only.

Atlantic City Electric Spokeswoman Lendel Jones said that, as of now, the project is in the preliminary stages and the company does not know when it will begin.

"We are planning to build it because of the growth of the area," she said. "We need it to continue to be able to give our customers the type of service they're used to getting, because the current infrastructure there now has almost reached load capacity."

Public Affairs Manager for AC Electric Ken Mosca said that there are normally no safety concerns with these substations, as long as people do to trespass into the substation.

"Our substations are very safe," he said. "They're built safely."

More information will be available at the time of the meeting in September.

Is this why so many electric com. crews are working on Moss Mill close to the Parkway?

As many residents as possible should attend this important meeting. After seeing photos of what the standard substations look like, I am a very concerned (4 Seasons/Manchester Village) resident and want several questions answered first before approval!

It's needed that's for sure. The seniors will be out in force with the "not in my backyard" argument I imagine. The property itself appears to be in Port Republic so they'll get the ratable and not have to worry about pandering.

JD, When you say "it's needed" - are you saying the substation is needed, or having questions answered is needed? Thanks!

With so much undeveloped land in Galloway Township/Port Republic, why in the world would this need to be in ANYONE'S BACKYARD?

A "Questions and Concerns" PDF document that has been provided to Atlantic City Electric regarding the proposed substation has been uploaded and can be accessed by clicking the PDFS(1) link above.
