Buena Regional High School Shelter Reaches Capacity

There are still four additional shelters available in Atlantic County.

The shelter at Buena Regional High School has reached capacity, Atlantic County officials announced early Sunday afternoon.

Shelters at Buena Middle School, Pleasantville High School and Pleasantville Middle School remain available at this hour. Only Buena Middle School accepts pets, and they must be in carriers, according to county officials.

St. Augustine Prep School is accepting residents in need of continuous medical attention, according to county officials.

Atlantic County also will not be providing traffic diversion equipment on roadways due to the increasing and likely continuous tidal flooding, county officials said. The county is concerned by the possibility of protective barriers, such as cones and barrels could become airborne or float away.

County officials are warning drivers to use extreme caution, and not drive through flood waters. Officials recommend finding another way around.

All inbound traffic to the barrier islands will be restricted at 4 p.m. Outbound lanes will remain open until further notice.
