Easter Events in Galloway Township

Looking for something to do for Easter? There's plenty in and around the township.

Easter is this Sunday. Want to know what’s going on? The following is a list of all Easter-related activities taking place from now until this Sunday.

When/Where: Today, April 5-Sunday, April 8 at St. Mark and All Saints Episcopal Church at 429 South Pitney Road in Galloway.

Why go? Maundy Thursday April 5, 7 p.m. Eucharist & Foot Washing.

Why go? Seven speakers will describe The Last 7 Utterances of Jesus on the Cross, featuring special music.

When/Where: Sunday, April 8 at Mainland Baptist Church, 512 South Pitney Road, Galloway.

Why go? Services begin with a sunrise service at 7a.m., and continue with Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and  Preaching Services at 10:40 a.m. and 6 p.m.

When/Where: Saturday, April 7 at Historic Smithville and the Village Greene, 11 a.m.

Why go? For those both young and the young-at-heart, our Colonial Easter Bunny strolls the historic village so Smithville stopping along the way to visit with you and your family! Don’t forget to bring your camera. Historic Smithville is a village of rolling cobblestone walkways that lead you to over 60 specialty shoppes plus. Train, Carousel, Paddleboats.

When/Where: Today, April 6-Sunday, April 8 at the Atlantic City Aquarium, 800 New Hampshire Avenue, Atlantic City, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why go? The Atlantic City Aquarium will host a show-packed week in honor of Easter, with special shows and activities from Friday, April 6 through Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Each day, the fun starts a Live Diver Feeding Show at 11 a.m.  Visitors can watch, and interact with, a diver in scuba gear as he or she hand feeds the stingrays and sharks inside the 25,000-gallon tank.

At noon and 3 p.m., it’s feeding time for the juvenile cow nose rays, bat rays, and southern rays. Visitors can hand feed these species by purchasing bags of food. Bags of food are $2 (or $1 for members).           

At 2 p.m., visitors can get close to the Aquarium’s more unusual inhabitants at the Exotic Animal Show.  The show features the largest species of scorpion in the world and the softest furred mammal in the world. Aquarium handlers discuss their native habitats, their suitability as pets, natural defenses and predatory instincts other interesting facts.            

The Atlantic City Aquarium’s mascot, Seaweed the Sea Turtle, also will make appearances occasionally throughout the week.

The Atlantic City Aquarium is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children ages 4-12. Children under three are free. Located in Atlantic City's Historic Gardner's Basin, the Atlantic City Aquarium offers a fun and educational look into more than 100 varieties of fish and marine animals. Price: $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children ages 4-12. Children under three are free.

When/Where: Sunday, April 8 at Historic Smithville and the Village Greene, 1 p.m.

Why go? Parade of Adults and Children walking throughout the village.

Put on your Easter best and stroll the Village in style. Awards will be given for best outfits.
