Galloway Democratic Club Chairman Michael Suleiman Named Among Atlantic City Weekly's "40 Under 40"

He will be featured in the March 7 edition of the magazine, and recognized at an Awards Banquet March 22 at the Borgata.

Galloway Township Democratic Party Municipal Chairman Michael Suleiman has joined a select group of individuals.

On March 7, Atlantic City Weekly will release its “Top 40 Under 40” issue, and Suleiman will be featured in that group. An awards banquet will follow March 22 at the Mixx at Borgata, 7 p.m.

"I am honored to be recognized as one of the region's 'Top 40 Under 40,'" Suleiman said in a release issued Monday, March 4. "It's refreshing to see so many great young people involved in all aspects of our community. I will do whatever I can to get more young people involved in Galloway Township and the greater South Jersey area."

Suleiman said that included contacting elected officials on issues and convincing other young people to run for elected office. Suleiman is 22, and is a lifelong resident of Galloway Township.

“I was surprised,” to be selected to ‘Top 40 Under 40,’ Suleiman said in an emailed response to questions on Monday. “There are a lot of successful people in our area under 40 so it is an honor to be included with them. I am grateful to my friend and Freeholder Colin Bell for nominating me.”

Suleiman graduated magna cum laude from Rutgers University in 2011 with a degree in Political Science. Following his graduation, he became a Legislative Aide with Sen. Jim Whelan’s office. In that position, he helps develop legislation for the Senator, and leads communications and community outreach for the office.

Suleiman became the Galloway Democratic Party's Municipal Chairman prior to the 2011 election cycle. That year, Jim Gorman was re-elected to Galloway Council. Last year, Jim McElwee joined Gorman as the only two Democrats on council.

This year, four seats will be available on Galloway Township Council, including McElwee’s. The deadline to register for the Democratic and Republican primaries is April 1.

Last year, Suleiman served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He is a member of the Metropolitan Business and Citizens Association (MBCA) and the Galloway Township Superintendent’s Advisory Team.
