Germania Cemetery to Host Memorial Day Celebration

Galloway will gather to honor those who have fallen in combat for America.

Memorial Day is the one day a year in which Americans stop to honor those who have fought in defense of—and fallen for—the country we all call home.

In Galloway Township, the main celebration will be held at Germania Cemetery, Monday morning at 10:30.

The entire town will come out, and helping to mark the occasion will be Galloway Township Middle School Student Council and the first-graders at Arthur Rann Elementary School, who will serve as flag bearers and wreath layers. Each year, Student Council places a wreath as part of the ceremony.

Superintendent of Schools Annette Giaquinto will be on hand, as will the Church of the Assumption, various Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, the U.S. Marine Corps League, the V.F.W., police and fire deparments, and the American Legion, among other groups.

The ceremony is open to the public, and is expected to last between 30 and 45 minutes. A lunch ceremony follows at the Germania Firehouse.
