Joseph Miller to Be Laid to Rest Monday Morning

Services for the Stockton student who died in a car crash Tuesday night will take place at Mathis Funeral Home.

A Richard Stockton College of New Jersey student who died in a Tuesday night, Oct. 4 will be laid to rest in his home town Monday morning.

Services for Joseph B. Miller, 21, of Medford, will take place Sunday night and Monday morning at Mathis Funeral Home, located at 58 North Main Street in Medford, according to an obituary posted on the funeral home's website Friday afternoon.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, Oct. 9 from 5-8 p.m. The viewing will continue Monday morning, Oct. 10, from 10-11 a.m., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., at the church. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery, in Medford.

Miller was the passenger in a car that struck a deer followed by trees on the Stockton College campus Tuesday night. He was to turn 22 on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Miller was born at Cooper University Hospital in Camden and raised in Clementon before moving to Medford in 1999, according to his obituary.

He attended St. Mary of the Lakes School and was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church in Medford, where he served as an usher. He graduated from Holy Cross High School, where he was a member of the Stage Crew, in 2008, the obituary said.

The avid Phillies fan majored in Business Studies at Stockton. He also enjoyed video games and classic Camaros, according to his obituary. He owned a 1987 Camaro.

He is survived by his parents, James P. Miller and Cecilia Caringal, M.D.; his sister and her significant other, Cecilia “Cee Cee” Miller of Medford and Chris Snyder of Cinnaminson; his grandmother, Sara Miller of Haddon Heights; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including Michael, Louie, Jon and Joao.
