Martin Luther King Day Award: Kaleem Shabazz

Shabazz was recognized at the Atlantic County event on Friday.

Atlantic County held its Martin Luther King Day event at the Atlantic County Office building on Friday, Jan. 13. Over the next three days, Galloway Patch will showcase a video a day from this event.

The first video is of a speech given by Martin Luther King Award winner Kaleem Shabazz, president of Shabazz and Associates and a board member for the American Conference on Diversity and the Fellowship of Churches, Atlantic City vicinity.

According to information provided by the county, he is also vice president of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Holocaust Memorial Organization, the former South Jersey Director of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, a former member of the Martin Luther King Commission and a co-founder of the local African American Male Conference.

He is a former board member and executive director of the Atlantic City Art Center and a Rutgers University graduate. Born and raised in Atlantic City, he also attended Cheyney State University and is married with one daughter and two grandsons.
