National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory for Atlantic County

The advisory lasts until 7 Friday night.

The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Mount Holly has issued a heat advisory for Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties. The advisory will be in effect through 7 p.m. Friday night, June 29.

The NWS projects a heat index near near 105 degrees Friday afternoon, with temperatures ranging from 95 to 100 degrees. The heat wave for most of the area looks to continue through the middle of next week, although the NWS expects excessive heat to lessen over that time.

Those who live and/or work in the urban areas are expected to feel the worst of the heat, while particular attention should be paid to the elderly, the infirm, children and anyone without air conditioning, the NWS said.
