NJOEM Offers Small Business Loans for Those Who Suffered Damage During Derecho

Loans are up to $200,000, and will be available in Hamilton Township from Sept. 25-Oct. 4.

Homeowners in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Ocean counties who had their homes damaged during the derecho storm of June 30 are now eligible for Small Business Administration (SBA) loans of up to $200,000, the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) announced on Friday, Sept. 21.

They are also eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property, NJOEM said.

From Tuesday, Sept. 25-Thursday, Oct. 4, SBA officials will be on hand at Disaster Loan Outreach centers from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Hamilton Township Town Hall on 6101 Thirteenth Street in Mays Landing will be the Disaster Loan Outreach center in Atlantic County.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, the center will be open from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., and it will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 30.

Those who are unable to visit the center may get information on loan applications by calling the SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 (800-877-8339 for people with speech or hearing disabilities), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or by sending an e-mail to disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

Business loan applications can also be downloaded from the SBA website at www.sba.gov.

Completed applications should be returned to the center or mailed to: U.S. Small Business Administration, Processing and Disbursement Center, 14925 Kingsport Road, Fort Worth, TX 76155.

Those affected by the disaster may apply for disaster loans from SBA’s website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/.

The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is Nov. 20. The deadline to return economic injury applications is June 21, 2013.
