Power Restored in Atlantic County

A massive power outage that affected more than 6,000 customers has been corrected, but the cause remains unknown.

More than 6,000 people who were without power earlier this morning have had power fully restored, Atlantic City Electric representative Sandra May said late Friday morning, Oct. 7.

The cause of the outage remains unknown at this time, and is currently under investigation.

The outage began shortly before 10 a.m., and affected residents and businesses in Galloway, Absecon and Egg Harbor Township.

The Galloway Township Municipal Complex was without power between 10 and 11:30 Friday morning. Traffic lights along the White Horse Pike and Jimmie Leeds Road were without power, and Galloway Police were directing traffic.

Other areas of Galloway remained unaffected, including the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and the recreation department at Glenn by the Bay.
