Sunshine Today, Hurricane This Weekend

The time to prepare has never been sunnier.

A hurricane may be ready to attack New Jersey this weekend, but there will be plenty of sunshine today to allow Galloway residents to prepare.

The forecast from the National Weather Service out of Mount Holly calls for most of the region to see sunshine today ahead of the weekend's storm. Hurricane Irene is still expected to move up the east coast this weekend, but where the center tracks remains uncertain.

During the night, a frontal boundary had dropped farther into our region, the National Weather Service said.

With the remnant boundary stalling and perhaps moving back to the northwest, showers and thunderstorms may develop from mid-day on. Southern counties, such as Atlantic County, could see scattered showers and thunderstorms, and with low level moisture, there could be heavy rain in spots.

Highs should be in the 80's this afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms tonight, and a lull before any precipitation that can be directly attributed to Hurricane Irene.
