The watch will last from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service out of Mount Holly has issued a flood watch due to heavy rainfall from Hurricane Irene for parts of New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania for Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

Parts of New Jersey expected to be affected by flooding include Atlantic, Cape May, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, Burlington, Salem, Ocean, Monmouth, Mercer, Morris, Middlesex and Somerset counties.

Record rainfall is possible and may result in major flooding across the state, the weather service said. Smaller creeks and streams will be susceptible to major flooding across the state.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Galloway residents living in areas prone to potential flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop, the service warned.
