Galloway Voters Head to the Polls for Congressional, Senate Primaries Tuesday

Congressman Frank LoBiondo faces a challenge from Mike Assad in the Republican primary, while William Hughes Jr. faces Dave Cole in the Democratic primary.

Although there are no municipal elections this year, Galloway voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, June 3.

U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, who defeated Republican Steve Lonegan in last year’s special election, will run for a full term. He is the only Democrat running in Tuesday’s primary.

Jeff Bell, Brian Goldberg, Rich Pezullo and Murray Sabrin compete for the Republican nomination in November’s election.

In the Second Congressional District race, incumbent Frank LoBiondo faces a primary challenge from former Mike Assad, a former member of the Absecon School District’s Board of Education, in the Republican primary.

Attorney William Hughes Jr., the son of former Congressman William Hughes Sr., will is running for the Democratic nomination against former White House Aide Dave Cole.

The Second Congressional District covers Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties, and parts of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Ocean counties.

Atlantic County freeholders Alex Marino and John Risley are running for re-election, and will be challenged in the Republican primary by Victoria DeFilippo and Barbara Brown.

Democrats Steven J. Stokes and Barbara Rheault will run unopposed in the Democratic primary.

Atlantic County Sheriff Frank X. Balles is running for re-election. He is unchallenged in the Republican primary. Dennis Munoz is the only Democrat pursuing the position.

Polls are open 6 a.m.-8 p.m.
