Bells of Christmas Concert

The South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble will present its 16th annual winter concert, “The Bells of Christmas,” at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 10, at the Performing Arts Center of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, in Galloway Township.

The evening’s program recalls days of old when church bells were heard throughout the town in celebration of Christmas.  A chorus of hand bell ringers will enhance the music and leave all in a festive spirit.  Frank L. Kollman will narrate “The Bells of Christmas,” an inspiring composition based on the story of how Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote the famous carol," I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day."  Dancers Courtney Recchiuti and Anthony Mauriello will also be featured.  Of course, included in the evening’s program will be a few surprises that will please family members of all ages.

Known for its dynamic, high-energy concerts, the 65-member Wind Ensemble, with Keith Hodgson conducting, features many of the region’s best musicians. The ensemble won the prestigious “Silver Scroll Award” in 2006. The award honors musical excellence, and has been presented to fewer than 50 community bands nationwide in its 25-year history.
