AtlantiCare Auxiliary Makes $500,000 Pledge

Linda Stanton, of Mullica Township, president of the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Auxiliary, announced Wednesday that the auxiliary has committed to a $500,000 pledge to ARMC. The funds will benefit the Mainland Campus Transformation Project.

“We are so excited to help support the transformation of AtlantiCare’s Mainland campus,” Stanton said. “AtlantiCare has become an integral part of this community and has done wonderful things for people in Pomona and in southern New Jersey. This auxiliary has been a partner to AtlantiCare since we began in 1974, and we are excited to support AtlantiCare in this new, exciting chapter of its history.” 

The Mainland Campus Transformation Project is scheduled to break ground early in 2014, and will included a 35,000 square foot addition to the hospital, upgrades to the existing facility, and additional enhancements and renovations. 

The Auxiliary has “helped us build a foundation of trust and respect in our community,” stated AtlantiCare’s chief operating officer Margaret Belfield. “You’ve offered countless hours of volunteer work that have contributed greatly to the heart and soul of our organization…countless bake sales, the annual motorcycle ride, hundreds of knitted blankets, and of course 35 years of kicking off our holiday season with this Holly Day Celebration.”

“As we look to 2014 and all it promises to bring for AtlantiCare, we are truly grateful to have you as a partner in our vision to build healthy communities,” Belfield concluded.

The Auxiliary hosted its 35th Annual Holly Day Luncheon December 4 at The Carriage House in Galloway and, in addition to its half-million dollar pledge, presented AtlantiCare with more than $24,000 in gifts to benefit patient programs and services.

“It is our mission to support the efforts of AtlantiCare. There are exciting changes coming to healthcare and to the Mainland Campus, but we recognize that other needs still exist,” Stanton added. Among other gifts that will promote the community’s health at Mainland Campus, the Auxiliary presented the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with $3,500; will sponsor ten nurses from the Medical Surgical Team to obtain Medical Surgical Specialty Certificates through the American Nursing Credentialing Center; and is donating $3,000 to the AtlantiCare Heart Heroes for placement of five automated external defibrillators in the community.

The annual luncheon, started in 1978, is the Auxiliary’s largest fundraiser and regularly draws 200 or more guests and is open to the public. Guests enjoyed lunch, gift and gift basket door prizes and raffles, and holiday entertainment provided by pianist Gabe Coia.

AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Auxiliary raises funds for patient services throughout ARMC including the Roger B. Hansen Center for Childbirth, the Heart Institute, and the Progressive Cardiac Care and Acute Care for the Elderly units. Among donations made to ARMC Mainland campus are the Joie de Vivre statue, which stands at the entrance to the Roger B. Hansen Center for Childbirth; medical equipment and supplies; clothing; andteddy bears for distribution to patients with invasive breast cancer. Founded in 1974, the Auxiliary has raised more than $2 million to benefit patient services at ARMC Mainland and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2014.
