Southern Ocean Medical Center Appoints Vice President of Nursing/Chief Nurse Executive

Southern Ocean Medical Center has appointed Donna Ciufo, DNP, R.N., to the position of Vice President of Nursing/Chief Nurse Executive at Southern Ocean Medical Center.

Dr. Ciufo is a long time member of Meridian Health, having held leadership positions in various capacities over the past 12 years. She served for 10 years as Senior Manager of Patient Services at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, New Jersey, and was directly responsible for Nursing Administration and Professional Development, overseeing the operation and quality of eight in-patient units and the Family Health Center. She most recently served as Corporate Director of Nursing Education for Meridian Health, where she was directly responsible for system-wide orientation, education and continuing education needs of the nursing staff throughout the health system.

Dr. Ciufo joined the Southern Ocean Medical Center team in February 2013 as interim Chief Nurse Executive, and made an impact in areas such as throughput and patient satisfaction. In her new formal role, she now has direct responsibility for nursing operations and patient care, and will work closely with physician leaders to ensure the highest quality of care is provided in a collaborative manner.

Dr. Ciufo received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from Monmouth University and holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from UMDNJ. She has taught as an adjunct clinical instructor at Ocean County College and Georgian Court University, and serves as a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Organization of Nurse Executives, New Jersey among others.
