Galloway Senior Says it's About Time Senior Center Opens

Joyce Robinson and Galloway's seniors have waited nearly 10 months for the center to open.

To the editor:

Many of my friends and I were delighted to hear that the Galloway Senior Center was to open in June of 2011. For many of us seniors who do not live in a senior living community, the Senior Center would serve as a great place to hold events and meet with other seniors in the township.

It has been nearly ten months since the Senior Center was supposed to open and its doors are still closed. The Mayor and Council have talked about the need to open the Senior Center but have failed to get the ball rolling. In these tough economic times, I urge Galloway Council to finally open the doors of the Galloway Senior Center. We deserve community space in our golden years to call our own.

Just hope they don't lay off people so it can be open...

The Township Bought the Building for $800,000 from the American Legio. It then paid well over $300,000 to renovate the Building and remove asbestos. Being the Townhip paid $1,000,000 (one million, one hundred thousand dollarss), the Buildig should now be opened for Seniors to use. We all paid the bill to buy, refurbish the building, now let it be used.

In one moment of clarity that I can decipher in your letter you do acknowledge "tough economic times".....yet you continue to harp on the fact that you need a place to hang out all day. Surely you can see the bigger picture here....right?
