Why go? Painter and teacher Lance Balderson  presents moods of nature interpreted through abstraction. Strong geometric and rhythmic compositions are infused in Balderson’s  layered paintings. 

Price: Adults $5, Seniors 65-and-older, $4, and members and Stockton students, free.

Why go? Katherine Stanek and Julia Levitina present representational works with a unique freshness. Levitina sculpts figures and animals in terracotta and bronze, with fine craftsmanship and sensitivity.  Stanek’s work utilizes an innovative use of materials, a combination of cements, aggregates and pigments. In her unique process she uses destruction as a vehicle for creation. Each artist establishes a deep connection to her work as it goes through all the foundry processes. Stanek and Levitina each sculpt, cast and finish their own work, ensuring a very personal quality to each sculpture.

Why go? George Nick is one of the most respected contemporary realist painters working today. Painting the real world of man-made objects and structures, Nick presents his masterful paintings thick with paint. Intense study of form and color translate information from the real world into his own painterly response.  George Nick’s work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Hirschhorn Museum.

When/Where: Daily at Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 Black Horse Pike in Mays Landing.

Why go? Three lucky winners will share up to $15,000 in the 2012 Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala 50/50 Raffle. The raffle is sponsored by the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation, and proceeds benefit student scholarships and Atlantic Cape Foundation operations.

Only 300 tickets will be sold at $100 each. Three cash prizes will be awarded, including: $9,000, first prize; $4,500, second prize; and $1,500, third prize. Dollar amounts are based on all 300 tickets being sold. The winning tickets will be drawn at the March 22 Restaurant Gala at Bally’s Atlantic City. Winners do not need to be present to win.

Now in its 29th year, the Restaurant Gala has raised $2.5 million in student scholarships.
