Absecon Fire Department Handles Small Fire at Mt. Fuji

A portion of the roof was damaged in the overnight blaze.

A portion of the roof at the Mt. Fuji Japanese restaurant on Route 30 was damaged during an overnight fire, the Absecon Police Department said on Friday morning, April 26.

Absecon Police and Fire departments reported to the scene at 1:26 a.m. to find a small portion of the roof along with the neon sign near the entrance engulfed in flames, police said. 

The fire was quickly extinguished, and no additional damage was done to the restaurant, police said. Mt. Fuji was closed, and no injuries were reported, police said.

One lane of Route 30 was shut down for an hour. 

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
