Atlantic City Man Dead Following Shooting Thursday Afternoon

A Stanley Homes Village Man was shot to death Thursday afternoon.

An Atlantic City man is dead following a shooting in the city Thursday afternoon, Sept. 6, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain announced.

Jose Ortiz, 59, a resident of Stanley Homes Village Apartments was shot in the abdomen when he rode the bike into the middle of a gunfight between unknown individuals in his complex at 3 p.m., McClain said. Ortiz was pronounced dead shortly after being transported by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, according to McClain.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit was dispatched to the scene of the homicide, and Ortiz's next of kin has been notified, McClain said.No arrests have been made and the incident is under investigation, according to McClain.
