Boater Recovered in Absecon Bay Was Deceased

Initial reports that he was alive when found were incorrect, PADET Atlantic City said.

Initial reports that the Coast Guard rescued a man who was aboard a boat that capsized during Friday night's derecho were incorrect, PADET Atlantic City said Monday morning, July 2. The boater was deceased when he was found.

Initially, it was that two men on the boat made it ashore and were located by members of the Coast Guard Air Station who were flying overhead. The third man was said to have been located by an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, flown by members of the Coast Guard, and was taken to the Coast Guard Station.

On Monday, PADET Atlantic City clarified that the first two men were discovered by a member of the Brigantine Police Department, and that the third man was located by the MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, but was unresponsive by the crew aboard a Response Boat - Small from station Atlantic City. The man was transported to the station and transferred to awaiting emergency medical personnel, PADET Atlantic City said.
