Driver Flown to Hospital With Serious Injuries Following Thursday Morning Accident

The accident took place on Quail Hill Boulevard and Southampton Drive.

An unidentified person was flown to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Trauma Center in Atlantic City with serious injuries following an accident at Quail Hill Boulevard and Southampton Drive in the Smithville section of the township Thursday morning, Sept. 20, Galloway Police said.

The driver was traveling southbound on Southampton Drive at 8 a.m. Thursday morning, and disregarded a posted stop sign, resulting in a collision with a 2012 Toyota Rav 4 traveling eastbound on Quail Hill Boulevard, police said.

Bayview and Oceanville fire departments extricated the driver of southbound vehicle, who was transported to the hospital by Southstar Helicopter, police said.

Sarah Seyler, 75, of Smithville, was driving the Toyota. She was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The intersection was closed for an hour, and both cars were towed from the scene, police said.

The accident is still under investigation, and witnesses are asked to contact Officer Steven Garrison at (609) 652-3705, ext. 090.
