An Egg Harbor City police officer has been charged with four counts of official misconduct for using his position as an officer to engage in sexual conduct with women, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain announced on Wednesday.
Steven Hadley, 31, of Port Republic, was charged with official misconduct on Tuesday, Sept. 24, for engaging in sexual activity with four different women on numerous occasions between January of 2010 and May of this year, McClain said.
Hadley was hospitalized in critical but stable condition on Tuesday after being involved in a one-car accident on the Garden State Parkway in Little Egg Harbor earlier in the morning, according to the Press of Atlantic City. He was transported to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia with burns and a laceration to the face.
Hadley's attorney was served with the charges Tuesday afternoon while Hadley remained hospitalized, McClain said.
Official misconduct is a second degree crime that carries with it a penalty of between five and 10 years in state prison and up to $150,000 in fines.
