Exhaust Fan Fire Damages Two Rooms at Econo Lodge Motel

The fire took place Tuesday night.

Two rooms on the first and second floors of the Econo Lodge Motel were damaged by a fire caused by a bathroom type exhaust fan, Galloway Fire Marshal Ron Garbutt said on Wednesday, March 27.

The fire was reported at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday night, March 26, by occupants in rooms 110 and 210, Garbutt said. Bayview, Absecon, Oceanville and South Egg Harbor Fire Companies responded to the scene, with Pomona Fire Company providing backup for Bayview.

According to Garbutt, 15 of the 24 rooms in the motel, located at 306 East White Horse Pike in the Bayview section of the township, were occupied. Occupants in the impacted rooms were moved to other rooms at the motel, Garbutt said.
