One victim was taken from the scene of a fire at a single-family home occupied by labor workers for Caroline's Farms on South Genoa Avenue on Monday, Dec. 17, according to Galloway Township Fire Chief Ron Garbutt.
According to Garbutt, the victim was pulled from the two-story building by a labor worker who was next door at the time the fire broke out. The victim was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus.
The nature and extent of his injuries were unknown. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The fire broke out just after 3 p.m., but was confined to one rear bedroom on the second story, Garbutt said. Within minutes of arriving on the scene, firefighters had the blaze under control, according to Garbutt.
According to Garbutt, two or three workers are currently living at the house, which is currently uninhabitable due to smoke damage.
Galloway Police and ambulance squad, and firefighters from South Egg Harbor, Pomona, Germania and the county fire marshal reported to the scene Monday afternoon.
